I must say that being with leaders from around the world to solve today’s biggest challenges energizes me. The challenges we are facing are enormous, and we need one another.

Beyond the pre-launch of my book, here are my key take aways:

📌 𝐖𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐞.

With only 17 per cent of the Goals targets on track, we are failing. Earth may have breached seven of nine planetary boundaries. People are more concerned than we think. We are all conscious that we are not moving fast enough. Yes, the mobilization is there. We were 100 000 attendees, but this is not enough. Time is about action.

📌 𝐈𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐚 𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐬; 𝐢𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐚 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐬.

62% of CEOS are expected to manage change in society as well as in business. While global institutions are being challenged, 63% of citizens trust business when it comes to social progress. More than ever, business can be a force for good. But the journey is getting tougher to bring our movement to scale. I must admit that the frontrunners were there, but not many. It is time to act with purpose. Putting this right is possible.

📌 𝐀𝐬 𝐰𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐲, 𝐰𝐞 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐞𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐠𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞.

The way the world is being run is not working. Our system is broken. Time is now to shift from a shareholder to a stakeholder economy. Panels I attended welcomed diversity at the table, scientists, businesses, change makers and governments. Let’s empower the youth, at the forefront of climate action and social justice. We may listen to one another. We may listen to citizens. But how ready are we to decide together on what is needed?

📌 𝐘𝐞𝐬, 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐬𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝

I participated in many events regarding finance. We are getting closer. The progress is tangible. The models are there. The standards are being adopted. Regulations is gearing up. Let’s move for impact driven approach. It may not be perfect yet, but it is promising. Let’s please make sure we avoid complexity that will slow us down. We need the data to guide decision making, help companies and inform investors in their choices.

📌 𝐒𝐨𝐫𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐚𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐚 𝐝𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞.

There is still a long way to go for equality. 80% of the people displaced and impacted by climate change are women. Only 9 out of 133 speakers at the United Nation General Assembly were women. But what striked me in NYC: the collective spirit and determination among women leading the change was astonishing. Being part of many women tribes, with such sorority gives me hope in our collective ability to make the change happen.

Yes, we are at an inflection point.

It is possible to build a more inclusive and sustainable world.

So, DON’T GIVE UP
